The service companies industries have answered "yes" in 45% of cases and "no" in 55%. The service companies to individuals 'yes' in 75% of cases and "no" in 25%.
As can be seen from the results, the interest in the adoption of technology, even if it is different from sector to sector, is high. There is also to say that many of these future users probably already use (without knowing it) RFID devices, mainly in access control.
Very interesting was also the exposure of a survey done in the U.S., where RFID technology is much more known and used. To the question: "What should be done to extend the use of RFID"? Over 70% of IT managers surveyed responded:
- Reducing the cost of tags (smart tags at the base of RFID, Ed);
- Reducing the cost of infrastructure;
- Organization of the supply chain partners.
To the question: "In what context is a need for greater investment of resources for RFID?" In order of importance these answers were given:
- Handheld devices
- printers
- hardware
- database
- Business Intelligence
- Middleware.
It 'clear that it is of primary importance to the expansion of this technology investment in equipment more robust and cross-technology: one of the most common fears, for investors, is in fact to have to deal with a technology that can quickly become obsolete.
Very interesting was the speech of prof. Baptized Louis, observatory on RFID applications at the Politecnico of Milan, who presented the results of a research conducted by the observatory on over 100 RFID applications in Italy. The study took into account the type of applications and technologies designed such standards it was decided to use and how these have influenced the decision-making process that led to the adoption or rejection of RFID technology.
