An RFID RFID CARD card vendor has gagged a security alarm researcher to stop him revealing information on vulnerabilities in RFID proximity cards.
HID threatened a lawsuit against Chris Paget, a burglar alarm researcher with IOActive. The RFID vendor also threatened action against IOActive when the projected talk, inside the Spammy security conference, went ahead. HID claimed that this presentation violated the company's patent rights.
The organization made a decision to cancel the talk in reality-night negotiations with HID collapsed, said Josh Pennell, CEO of IOActive.
IOActive's decision to abort their presentation follows days of negotiations between the two companies, after HID became alarmed about Paget's discussion, "RFID for freshies," that has been to deal with widespread security difficulty with the implementation of RFID in proximity cards which are sold by HID and also other rfid inlay companies.
