The switch to RFID CARD debit cards with chips in the financial system will be open until December 31, 2013 , confirmed to Erbol director ASFI ( Supervisory Authority Financial System ) , Lenny Valdivia.
The authority said ASFI in the process of migrating the magnetic card chip there will be no problem for use at ATMs and shopping centers.
Data indicate that there ASFI in Bolivia 92,187 credit card users and 2.2 million with debit card, making a total of 2,367,735 . The goal of migrating to chip cards is to give greater security and prevent the cloning of cards containing a magnetic strip and are much more likely to be cloned .
Initially it was expected that the change would take place on 1 November 2012 to 28 February 2013 for cards.
It is expected that all debit cards are replaced during the 2013 management , concluding the process of migrating the standard chip card ( EMV ) in December of that year. This means that people do not need to visit the bank for change , as each financial institution will have their schedules that will be released to users in a timely manner .rfid inlay
