NFC cards

At IFA held at RFID CARD Berlin, Germany, on Aug. 29th, besides announcing NFC-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets and headphones, Sony has also introduced the SRS-BTM8, a speaker using both NFC and Bluetooth technologies. This new accessory is certainly worth taking a look at, as Sony simply describes it as “all it takes is a touch”.
It is clearly designed with portability in mind. The speaker looks like a handbag, with a curved handle on top for easy carrying. Users can simply tap the top of the speaker with their smartphones to begin wireless streaming — similar to Android Beam, only for music.
“All you do is touch the top of the speaker with your NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet and almost instantly your music will be pumping out into the room,” explains Sony, in launching the new speaker. “When you want it to stop, just touch the speaker again.”
The new Sony SRS-BTM8 speakers have the usual Bluetooth option for easily streaming music, but now the addition of NFC makes sharing and playing music a breeze.
The speaker is available for black and white. Unlike many portable wireless speakers, which feature rechargeable batteries, the SRS-BTM8 is powered by four AA batteries that promise up to 20 hours of wireless playback, but as the design suggests, you can also be able to power it via any outlet.
To use the One-touch function, you’ll need to download the free app from Sony, “NFC Easy Connect” at Google Play Store. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing or release date details.
With these features, retailers, hotels, restaurants and events can provide customers with highly secured self-service with the new iPad kiosks. The head units offer tightly integrated magnetic stripe readers, with no exposed cables or attachments susceptible to damage or credit card fraud, the announcement said.rfid inlay
